I was going to post to recommend that you wait till the leaves drop and then cut it back anywhere between 1/4 and 3/4's of the current height, but since I donÂt know a whole lot about bushes (I just whack mine off if theyÂre getting too bigÂwhich they seem to do constantly!), I decided to google it to see if there was something to contradict my recommendation! I didnÂt find any contradictions, so I recommend what I said above, but I DID find a really great site with info specific to burning bushes. IÂll link it below!

Thanks Skybird, for doing my research for me! I'm not sure if I'm lazy, or just have come to trust the advice of RMGers over anything else on the internet. I'd like to think it was the latter!

but that was a great site. And scared me into some definate pruning. I had no idea how big they can get. I'm also thinking I might try the small tree option. That's really intriguing, and then I could try growing a clematis through it too!
