I live in Utah. I bought blackberries at a plant sale and upon getting them home realized I had gotten a Himalayan Blackberry mixed in with my Triple Crowns. I knew only what I read on the tag - that they had incredible flavor and would need to be trellised. I planted it near my Triple Crown. It has grown like crazy in my garden, and looking for information on care (pruning, fertilizing, etc) I looked this blackberry up on the web and was bombarded with pages about how invasive and noxious it is. My question: Should I take this plant out? I'm not sure why it would be sold if it is an environmentally invasive plant but I want my other berries to be healthy as well and don't want to risk this plant over taking everything else. Can it be controlled? Is it worth the effort to control it?
