We've the same forecast. I spent the day, out in the cold rain, harvesting one last bushel of blushing tomatoes. Lit the wood stove off for the first time today.

Looks like 36 degrees here tomorrow night. I was hoping it would hold off till Saturday, but with rain coming it won't be great for picking then, either. I guess it's time to finish up. I'm perilously close to getting a couple of first eggplants from the recovering plants.

I'm with you, Bonnie, I'm never ready for the end of the season!

All things considered, it wasn't a bad year. There were certainly challenges, but the garden was pretty productive this year.

Well, our forecast was accurate. Woke up to 29 degrees, and a blanket of frost. Glad I took the time to harvest everything yesterday! All of the beautiful basil plants are complete mush this morning.

The Weather Service promised us 39F and fog. After I scraped all the frost off windows of the pickup this morning, I told DW about that promise -- "Where's the fog?!"

She said, "They must have changed their minds."

I told her, "They aren't allowed to do that! I'm a taxpayer so they work for me! They can't go changing their minds!"

Aaannywaaaaay . . it was a late, first frost, at least . . .
