Utah Wildflowers!

Hi All,

Earlier today I was looking for pictures of the Penstemon I found growing by the road in Utah that I gathered seed from. I originally thought it was Penstemon utahensis, but then I found a picture of Penstemon eatonii, and now I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Anyway --- while I was looking I found this really, really cool site with pictures of wildflowers in Utah. I don't know if anybody else is interested in this, but I thought I'd post it anyway! Click on the link below and then, if you want to see the Penstemon eatonii that I tried--unsuccessfully--to start last winter, and that Stevation and I are both trying to start this winter--we WILL succeed, click on "Roadsides and Ditches," and then scroll down to P. eatonii.

And if you go to the links section, there are links to some Colorado sites too.

Happy flower viewing, now, when it's cold and snowy--and we need some flowers in our lives!

Funny, I posted in response to this thread early today, and it didn't show up. Wonder why?

Anyway, thanks Skybird, for the info. The website author has really put a lot of time into that site! I posted a link to it on my blog so I can save the reference for future use.

Something is wrong with GardenWeb!

I posted something on another thread and when I clicked "submit" the window closed - nothing was submitted.

If we find the time in May, we like to go out on the dirt roads that lead west toward the canyon from highway 191 (Moab - Montecello), park the car, and wander around to see the flowers. It's a whole other world.

Hey, when I click on Penstemons, it says page not found. Are you guys able to view them?

No. I can't see penstemons in either category, Bonnie.

Today, I went back to an old NYTimes article that I was sure said something about BTU's. I'd even bookmarked it as such. Spent 15 minutes reading thru it again. Not one mention of BTU's. Do you think the NYTimes changed that 1993 article and didn't tell me?!?

Hi all,

I don't know why the Penstemon link isn't working on the main page, but if you go to the Roadsides and Ditches link on the top of the page, and then click on the P. eatonii on the right side, it'll work!

David, I love to look at the flowers (and tree bark, and rocks, and moss, and clouds....) whenever I'm out hiking too. When I'm on vacation, I'm always bugging the Park Rangers for the botanical names of the things I've seen! (And they're usually pretty good at giving me an answer!)

Steve and Digit! GW not working properly! Is that possible??? I've been having intermittant problems with it for the last couple years--ever since Skip sold it to you-know-who! Oh, well! Most of the time it works!

Gotta go for right now. Will try to come back for at least one post I wanna do tomorrow--before I leave town again!
