Blue Rose Previewed

Roses are red, violets are blue.

Wait, that's old news. Suntory just previewed its new blue rose Wednesday (June 30, 2004) in Tokyo. Developed in association with its Australian subsidiary, Suntory said that researchers extracted the gene responsible for blue pigment in pansies (!) and activated it in roses.

Purportedly true blue, although the picture looks lavendar to me (but could be discrepancies in the photo, monitor displays, and the like).
