| I am not new to roses but I have never shown one. A friend of mine wants me to enter one at a local fair. I want to know how soon do I pick the rose and how to keep it looking good till it goes to show. Do I need to put it in a cooler to travel to the fair? I have a couple good hybrid teas now that I could pick. The judging is tomorrow. Could I put them in the fridge and keep them looking good till tomorrow? I have heard that an aspirin in the vase will keep them longer. |

| Sorry I'm a day late to help. I cut mine 4-5 days before a show. I have a rose cooler I put them in. It's kept at 35-38 degrees. A regular fridge will dry out the bloom unless you cover the bloom in plastic. It's the frost free cycle that will take the moisture out of a bloom. I hope you did good. Which Fair did you go to? I was at the Illinois State Fair wednesday the 19th. I won Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. Moonstone was the Champ and Gemini was the Reserve Champ. |
