Keeping roses fresh for shows

If by chance I have any roses for the shows this weekend and next Thursday.Would like your imput how to keep them looking fresh, and not colour faded or brown spots on petals.
With the amount of entries <28> and able to put second entry in as long as not same variety, need some way to keep them going for few days.
The competition and I have styrofoam boxes that we use
in them we place 2 litre milk containers which can hold about 3 roses, if your careful, but its hit or miss, whether these roses will last many days.
Blue roses will certainly have brown spots on petals,
Touch of Class looks like a washed out old rag after couple days.
Forgot to mention we use 2 litre plastic milk jugs nearly filled with water and frozen to keep roses cool.
We do not have reg. old refrigerators to use, and the frost free is in use and the veggies and apples wouldnt help.
What do you exhibiters do to keep roses going four 3 or 4 days???
Our shows are not run by rose Societys , rather fall exhibitions, where we can make enough to cover the fert, and maybe some of the sprays we use during summer...
Besides its fun, but due to downy mildew the fun will certainly be deminished this year. Thanks a bunch Jack

RE: Keeping roses fresh for shows

I answered some of this on the regular forum here's some more info. Pick your roses before they are the bloom size you want. Cut them under water and then submerge them in a full bucket of warm water almost up to the blooms leave them there until water reaches room temp. Use the bleach and sugar water in whatever you keep them in and try to keep them in a cool dark place. I don't think the frozen water is a good idea probably not easy for the roses to soak up the water that way. Change your water everyday adding new bleach and sugar.

Hopefully some more experienced exhibitors will get on here and help you out. Good luck at your show.
