 o
Are you growing 'Nine-eleven'?

Is anyone growing the Wells rose "Nine-eleven"?

How is it performing and what does it look like? If you have a
picture of it could you post it? Does it have exhibition form?

I know this is a lot of questions, but I wanted to know if it was worth getting.

Thanks

it is one of the most prolific bloomers in my garden, fast repeat, long stems and exhibition quality blooms. it is a blooming machine on fortuniana rootstock

nine eleven has large pink blooms that resemble uncle joe in size, the stems are straight like swathmore, and it is very fast to repeat. if some major rose company had introduced it would have been a great seller. one of mine has appx 50 long stem roses on it now.

This sounds great. I thought it was red though. How bright of a pink is it? I love Uncle Joe so I bet I will like it as well.

Thanks James: I'll put that one on my list for when you come to Natchez.

Is anyone selling this rose?

Nine-Eleven is a Whit Wells rose. I got one from Jack Walters several years ago and grew it in Pasadena. It is similar to Uncle Joe in its petallage and form and had too many petals too open properly in Southern California. I gave mine to Peter Alonso before I left and you could inquire of him as to whether it did any better in his garden.

I detest the name as it has no connection to the horrifying events of 9/11 and appears to me to trade on it.

Mine is rather young and so far just so so.

The HelpMeFind description says it is red. Wonder why, if it's actually pink. They don't have a photo, but here's a link to their description, if that helps.

Here is a link that might be useful: Nine-Eleven
