I have never shown roses. Is there an excellent show rose that also has great fragrance?

Mr. Lincoln (HT) hands down. It tends to open really fast, but as far as Best Fragrance, it's been a standard on the trophy tables for years. Won with it just this past spring. $.02 :O)

If you mean one that will win Queen of Show and Best Fragrance, you won't find it. Queen material roses are mostly non fragrant, except for Veteran's Honor who has a medium to light scent. ANd the fragrant ones don't have the form. Uncle Joe (Toro), Secret, Fragrant Cloud, and Dolly Parton are some that might get on the trophy table with an exceptional bloom and smell pretty good, but they just can't compete in form with Louise Estes, Crystalline, Gemini, Moonstone, Signature, St. Patrick and other consistant winners.

Check Bob Martin's site for the statistics on winners. And grow a few of all kinds.

Remember that anything listed in Modern Roses can be shown in a rose show, not just hybrid teas. Marchessa Boccella, Rose de Rescht, and R. rugosa are all good show roses with excellent fragrance. Buck's HTs can do very well in the Open HT and HT Spray classes.

Unless you are set on winning Queen of HTs, it's probably better to start by bringing roses you already grow or want to grow.

Many Shrub roses like the Austins have good fragrance and are good show roses in their class also most of the OGR's Baronne Prevost, Yolande d'Aragon, Madame Issac Pereire can win in their class.
