ARS Sponsored Rose Shows
In ARS National sponsored Rose Shows, there generally is a Horticultural and Arrangement section, each with specific Guidelines. At a National Rose Show this fall "Best in Show" was an arrangement. The arrangement was awesome and could very well be a winner.

First let me make it perfectly clear, the prime and only purpose of this post is how this can occur, if ARS horticultural judges follow Guidelines for Judging Roses?

In judging the" Court of Honor", Guidelines note in Judging for "Best In Show"," the best blue in each class in the show is included in competition. While the statement is open for individual interpretation, it than clarifies the statement, with judge must decide what specimen of variety is a better example than another. The judge no longer has other of the same variety to use as a gauge. A true indication, that only horticultural specimens are eligible for "Best in Show".

ARS sanctions a single horticulture certificate for best in appropriate classes, "Best in Show". Unless Guidelines for "Judging Rose Arrangements" indicate different, an arrangement is not considered a horticultural entry.

Maybe the headlines of April 2006 "Rose Exhibitors Forum is correct, that (ARS TO COMBINE GUIDELINES). Arrangement/Horticultural Judges to Merge.
