| Unfortunately, I have no purples, but I'd love to see yours. Of course, let's all agree that there probably is no true purple rose, but in recent years a number near purples (or sometimes purple) roses have been introduced, so I know some of you have them.
Any one have Night Owl climber? I remember drooling over a picture of it on the cover of some nursery catalog back when that rose was introduced. So how purple is it? CELEBRATE YOUR PURPLE ROSES--POST THEM HERE! Look forward to seeing them. Kate |

| Ahhhhh just lovely ladies. I am always looking for anything in purple. I love purple. Going to have to check some of these babies out. Thanks for sharing, Judy |

| Lovely blooms. Thanks for posting. Now I have a new selection for my slide album. |
|
| Oh, Heavens! Where do I start? Beth, you have tons of gorgeous purples! Blue Violet, Blueberry Nip, Rhapsody in Blue, and Shi-Un are all so yummy looking! Thanks, Tammy. I got Winter Magic first and really liked it but then I got Violet Mist and it's a much better, stronger and healthier rose. I've looked at Blue Girl several times and didn't get it. Mow I'm sorry I didn't. Juliet is a cutie! |

| Purple/lavender roses are so much fun! Here are mine:
Just wanted to add that they seem more purple in real life. My camera doesn't capture purple well. |

| Thanks, Ron. Route 66 is next to St. Patrick and they bloomed together last summer. It was a great combination. |

| Thank you, everyone, for posting your purple roses. They are all wonderful. Reine des Violettes

| That sport you have of burgundy iceburg is beautiful! If only it could actually be bred and propagated, that would be a wonferful color combo not often seen! Tammy |
|
| I'm loving all these purples/lavenders/near purples/near lavenders, etc. Had no idea there were so many I'm still wondering if someone has a Night Owl climber. Have wanted to know more about it since I saw it on the catalog front cover, but rarely does anyone even mention it. More pics--anyone? everyone? We are waiting. : ) Kate |
|
| Forgot about NIGHT OWL. It's still small, but gave me a few nice blooms last yr.
Krista, I wish my REINE DE VIOLETTES looked as good as yours. Mine rarely blooms and only once a yr anyway. |

| Night Owl and Enchanted Evening--love 'em! Lovely as this purples thread is, I think I might start a White thread--to get more people posting (hopefully). But if anyone has more purples, feel free to post here. We will return to view and praise if we see activity going on here. : ) Kate |

| Wow--what a collection of purples! They are gorgeous! Do they always bloom that color of purple? Or just under certain conditions? Any of them fade or change shades with shifts in temperatures? Take Skyliner, for instance--is it magenta at times and purple at other times? I was really eyeing that one--must find out more about it. They almost look like fall-blooming asters--in pics anyway. Don't know about real life. Kate |

| More beauties everyone! Marina, your photos of purples are excellent! Mine always look too pink. |
|
| OMG Marina, where did you get EYES FOR YOU? Did you import it yourself? I love it!! |

| I am drooling over all these beautiful purples!! I'm new to gardening so maybe you all can help me out a bit. I'm in Sacramento,CA and I have a south facing bed that I'd like to put a lavender-purple colored rose bush or rose tree. What I'm looking for is something that looks like Lavender Folies (pictured above). A. Where can I get it (Ive searched online and cant seem to find it) and... Beth- maybe you can give me more details since you posted the pics? Many many thanks in advance!! |
|
| I think it might be a cut flower--which means it is not really intended for general garden growing--which is probably why you can't find it listed as available at any nurseries. Isn't it Meilland rose? If so, I'd google up their site, locate their email address on the page, and email them a query about its availability. At least, it can't hurt to try. Good luck. Kate |

| This thread made me crave Angel Face all over again! Not a good idea, given that its died twice on me in our horrid winters :-/ What a pity, as it's a simply beautiful rose. |

| Thanks Hoovb, for that BEST picture of Prospero. You sold me on that one, and it's hardy to zone 5b. I try to get the same roses like you, since my soil is also alkaline heavy clay. |
|
| Wow! I'm glad I checked in to catch up here. Bustopher your roses and pics are gorgeous! Hoov, I'm thinking of getting Ebb Tide. Love your pics! |
