    thanks everyone!

    Lots more beauties too!

Tammy, The Painter is gorgeous! What happened to your Fire n Ice? I have to say that mine isn't doing very well. Did yours die?

    Yes, more beauties. Thanks, Seil.

But how are we supposed to get through March? Its still a long time til my roses actually bloom--although I will be planting some bareroots by the end of March.

Actually with the warmer winters we have been having the past few years, I'm not sure when I should be planting bare roots anymore.

Thanks, Kate! I say stick with the old forsythia blooming thing. I know it's an old wives tale but some of those were started for a good reason. I still firmly believe that it's a good indication of when the soil is warm enough to start planting. For me traditionally that would be some time in April. But like you said things are changing and my forsythia bloomed the end of March last year. That's when I did my pruning and planting and it worked out fine.

Seil, my Fire and Ice was new last year. It did really well up until maybe late August, then just slowly died off. It was budded into Dr Huey and that doesnt do well here without major soil ammending (something im not very diligent at doing properly...ive been spoiled by multiflora which loves my acidic clay). I may try it again because I really like the colors.

Btw...have you SP'd your Snowfire? I finally pulled mine last Fall..woohoo!

    Tammy
