For beauty of individual blooms this is my favorite. 4 yrs. ago she threw out an octopus cane. After several months I pegged it. Left it for over a year and never got a single bloom off that cane (not from below the graft). Has anyone pegged cane on 'Evelyn' and what was your experience? Evelyn's first bloom being very pastel.

It's lovely! Is your pegged cane putting up any laterals? If not then you won't get any blooms.

It never did put out any laterals which made me wonder if all roses have that capability. Maybe I needed to leave it pegged for a 3rd year?

Evelyn is a truly beautiful rose. Mine wasn't successful enough for me to keep her, as I have no space left and have to be brutally picky. I just didn't get good blooms during the hot months. I felt she really wanted to be a climber but I only had a spot for a regular rose. Mostly I don't miss SP'd roses but I do miss Evelyn!
