Hurray for the little trooper!

They all look great! Please let me know if Abraham Darby stays compact as an own-root. I didn't order Abraham Darby since the one grafted on Dr. Huey at the zone 5a rose park nearby: it's very messy, bushy, and takes up lots of space. We get winter-die back to the crown sometimes in a harsh winter, and I'm surprised he can get that big Grafted.

Strawberryhill, I am going to keep most of my roses "bonsai'd" in pots. I know, its not a conventional way of growing roses but I don't have much space for ground planting. I do however have another Abe Darby band planted in the ground. Will update you on that later in the year.

Here it is on the 7th day. The petals started unfurling exactly 7 days ago and only now can I see this flower has aged (it has a dingy tint to it). I am just amazed because my first Austin rose was the oh-so-fragile 'Windermere' and it's flower lasted only 2-3 days. I would be lucky if all the petals didn't all fall if when I would sniff them on the first day.
