Whine and Roses

First, the whine. I am cold. I live in California's Central Valley where we have a very long growing season and HOT weather.
Today, I put on a winter jacket, scarf, and hood to go out into the garden.
It is so cold and windy, I am here at the computer and not enjoying the roses outside.
I did this by retiring in mid-March so I could enjoy the spring--hah!
Roses don't care, though. Here are some reds I love,

Ingrid Bergman is a red I would recommend.
It stays compact, repeats flushes fast, and the blooms are huge.
Currently, it has a strong scent even I can smell. The bush gets bigger with each flush.

Dublin Bay is quite heat resistant in summer. In spring, the blooms are bigger and fuller. It is perfect for a tripod.
Color is darker than is shown here with no oranges tones at all.

Ingrid looks like the classic red rose--very elegant. I don't have any reds (yet), but photos like these are capturing my heart. I like those large, wide blooms on Dublin Bay. It really does look great on the tripod.

OMG Kathy! LOL... I was thinking the same thing. I'm freezing, it's windy, I would love to be outside, but just can't bring myself to go out there. It was 35 degrees out when I left for work at 6:45 this morning. My roses still aren't really opening up yet, but the irises are slowly popping out. This is by-far the weirdest spring I've ever seen since we came back to CA 22yrs ago. So, here I sit at the computer again, not getting anything done, because I'm sooo depressed!!

Thanks for the pick-me-up of beautiful red roses!! And your dog is adorable.

I love your tripods. What a perfect way to grow a rose on a fence. I'm copying. I wish I could copy you and retire!

No cold weather whining from me :>)
I'm just happy to have some sunshine again,
but happy you are retired, congrats.

Hope it means more of those lovely photos of your roses?

If only my Ingrid had looked like that!

My friend has Ingrid and she is an excellent performer. But I'm still a diehard Mr. Lincoln fan.
Too bad he doesn't perform like she does.

Love that Ingrid Bergman. I thought that IB had no scent. If it does have good scent that's one rose I would get. LIke irisgal said, I've heard IB is an excellent producer of flowers!!

Thank you so much!!!

Very pretty. Red is my favorite color for a rose and Ingrid is no exception...Maryl
