2 Years of Waiting and Finally! ...and some others

Its so nice to be able to post "what's blooming this week" messages! Although, most of mine are still just buds, I do have some blooms! Check them out!

Tammy

Here is the one I've been waiting for since 2010: Rosa Rugosa Alba. I bought it bareroot/ownroot from Spring Valley (who I love!) and its finally bloomed! It rained and hailed yesterday, so some of the blooms were damaged. My only regret is that in this particular case, I wish I would have bought it grafted...it is suckers like a beast!!!!

My first to bud this year, Stanwell Pepetual. I'm hoping it fits better in its new location in the front of the frontyard flowerbed, rather this in the main bed out back (he spreads out too low back there).

Eutin...just love it! New from Antique Rose Emporium this year (which I think gave it a head start on blooming thanks to the TX heat!)

Father Hugo: another one that seems to love my Tennessee Soil. Not a speck of disease and seems happy ownroot here in year 3.

Arthur Bell: This one is new this year and recently transplanted from a band to a 1 gallon pot. I was hoping it would keep its deep yellow and more organized form for longer than a day. I hate to say it, but at this point its reminding me of my yellow knockout I pulled this year! Anyone else grow him?

I'm enjoying your pics, TNY. Wish I had the space for a Father Hugo--I do love those blooms.

And your Eutin is looking great!

lol, Tammy, yeah, I throw fits when I get stingy bloomers or those that seem comatose, haha! I start doing my Rumpelstiltskin dance....haha! I am so happy you are getting some nice colorful rewards. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the pics, Tammy. Eutin is very nice. I have Arthur Bell, but still in buds - reddish and yellow, not sure if it's the right rose. It has dark green disease-free leaves, and laughs at the frost here - for that alone, I'm happy.

I've always wondered how big Alba Rugosa blooms are. How big is that bloom? Looks incredibly healthy. Does it smell heavenly?

Father Hugo is really pretty. So delicate looking.

Thanks for the look.
Carol

Carol, Its blooms are about 3-4 inches across, so a pretty good sized bloom. Its been blooming for about two weeks and still has some buds. Its an incredibly healthy rose. I don't spray except in extreme cases, and its never had a touch of disease and the insects don't seem to care a bit about eating it (all of my others have become caterpillar meals lately, but not the rugosas). Plus the hips are suppossed to be beautiful :)
