Hi all, im a newbie to planting roses and have researched and researched picked good spots (so i thought) and have mademy rose garden. Im in the dallas area and with the recent downpours there is standing water in the yard right in front of my garden, i did put in a border so it is keeping the water from sitting right on top of my roses im just worried about root rot. However, knowing how hot it is about to get i know that this wont be a common issue and ill soon be more concerned about them getting enough water, so should i be worried? And if so any advice to fix it? Thanks

Send us some of that water! My soil is adobe and a couple of years we have had floods! It never did do in a rose bush. A new construction-next-door's water pipe burst. It ran through my back area, unnoticed for more than a week. 2 inches of sitting water. Roses were fine. But my nerves were shot.

If the roses aren't looking stressed or don't have yellowing leaves they're probably fine. Water stress, both too much AND too little, usually shows up as yellowing leaves.
