Randy, love the photo of Basye's Blueberry, what a charming rose! I don't know that one and have to look it up. I am envying your new growth on Pretty Jessica, my band is still not doing that great. Hope, it can find its will to become a pretty rose! The peony is simply stunning. I really like the dark pink edges on some petals in contrast to the soft pink ones. Very pretty dark-purple color on your Jackmanii Clematis, she truly blooms in abundance for you! Thanks for posting!

I've always like your Basye's Blueberry Randy. Gorgeous peony and clematis looks so happy. Carla
|
Love the peony and the clematis. clematis is amazing with so many blooms. I have just planted one small plant and wonder what will happen to it. Peonies are my favourite flowers together with roses. Unfortunately I do not have even one peony...

Randy, Your pictures are wonderful - how do you manage to grow peonies??? I'm so jealous - I planted several quite a few years ago, and every year they come up and are healthy, but in about 8 - 10 years, I think I've had 1 bloom! I'd dig them out, but the foliage is pretty at least. Margaret

Randy those were all very nice but I love your Bayse's Blueberry. Makes me want to run right out and buy it for myself. I can't because I'm so out of room but I enjoy looking at your roses and flowers in general but that one particularly. Thank you. Kate

Carla, I can't say enough nice things about 'Basye's Blueberry. I'm glad you enjoyed it. bgrose, I wish you had some peonies to enjoy in your garden! Margaret, there's something about this variety of peony that makes it like it in my garden. I have no idea why. The other varieties I've planted over the years do exactly what yours have done ... nice foliage, but hardly ever any blooms. I dug up all the others & trashed them, except this great performing 'Sarah Bernhardt'. It's really a very vigorous plant. It was a fairly large plant when my Mom gave it to me (it had grown in my grandmother's garden for years and years), so I didn't have to nurse a tiny little plant. Kate, if you ever have any room in the future, you should give 'Basye's Blueberry' a try. If you do, be sure to plant it up close and personal, where it comes in contact with people. Take advantage of its smoothness and fragrance. Randy

Very beautiful photos of very beautiful plants! I thought that peony was a large gorgeous rose and I had to read the name several times to determine that it wasn't! I don't think that peonies OR clematis grow here - I, too, am envious! Why is it that people always want to grow stuff that doesn't do well in their area?! I have thought about getting Bayse's Blueberry several times - you may have just enabled me! Lynn

Randy, thanks. I will definitely put it on the list. As it stands just now I'm going to end up having about 16 roses in the my growing pot ghetto this year so I have to sort that out first:) I'm at a point where some are being given to neighbors and I tried to gift some to my MIL for Mother's Day but she has so many roses (given by me) that she can't take anymore just now either! But Basye's sounds so great I'll keep my eyes open for a spot. Kate

Every shot is wonderful!!! Jackamanii is such a great plant. The color, the bloom - wow!! I love peonies, but don't grow them, because I like blooms all season. My loss, when they are so beautiful. I adore, adore your Bayse's Blueberry photo!! Wow!!!! Do you have a bush shot? Unbelievably beautiful with the fuschia and the bright yellow!!!! Carol

Lynn, BB was hybridized right here in Texas. You might need one :-) Kate, I can relate to that! I am currently over-run with roses. Carol, I will look for a full bush shot of my Basye's Blueberry, surely I have one. I've found that this rose loves fish emulsion & liquid seaweed. I guess they all do, but BB has gotten particulary spunky lately, putting out lots of nice blooms. Randy

Randy, Basye's Blueberry is a beautiful rose! Thanks for posting the pics or I might never have heard of it--and I am not only a rose lover but a Basye. I would really like to learn about the history of this rose, and also I am dying to have one! Can you put me on the trail of where to get one? Thanks!--Miriam

Randy, the picture of Basye's Blueberry is stunning. Obviously a beautiful rose, but also beautifully photographed. In many ways I feel peonies are as beautiful as roses, and some perhaps even more so, but their bloom period is so fleeting, and of course they'd never grow in my heat. Were it otherwise I'd probably be growing as many peonies as roses. Ingrid (Would love to hear more from you on the antique rose forum)
