Distant Drums. Buds are a dark pink (almost red), newly-opened blooms are deep pink with a tan center, old blooms are a light pink/lavender color. Myrrh fragrance. Not disease resistant, must be treated to retain leaves. Not the first to defoliate, but it will eventually without treatment. Grafted on R. multiflora rootstock. it is in the bed that gets a regular layer of manure and mulching (cedar chips), but it needs a new layer of each this year.

| Does anyone know how the blooms differ from Distant Thunder? I just planted Distant Drums bareroot. I hope mine looks as good as yours :) |

| I always thought the name was inappropriate, but Diane's has bolder colors than mine produced. Mine was mauve and ochre, more Oscar Wilde than Africa. Truly it is a distinctive and interesting rose. |

This is one of my favorites. The blooms perform incredibly in the heat, and the fragrance is divine. |

| Such unique coloring. Nice to see the colors from bud to open. Thanks. |
