I caught the tail end of bloom at Filoli up San Jose way. I was thrilled to see even 1 bloom on some. Mania overtook and you guys are going to be subjected to my attempts.
Big surprises were in store as some I've lusted for didn't knock my socks off. And some I've passed over (pictures) were ahhh worthy. One being 'Gentle Hermione'. Please input your experience and any photos. I'm ready to dig out 'Heritage' for her.

'Heritage' - must you be so photogenic?!

Both pictures are pretty. I am not growing either of them at this time although I did have Heritage at my other house. I almost lost it to rust. The flowers on Heritage are very fleeting at best. Here now, gone in a few hours. I hope someone will comment on how long the flowers last on Gentle Hermione.

The photos are wonderful, Iris. Such pretty pinks.
In my experience, many Austin flowers are fleeting and this is compensated for by sheer number of blooms.

Love your pics, Heritage is superb.

Iris Gal, I had Gentle Hermione for several years, and she gave me some very beautiful blooms. The best blooms were in the spring and fall, summer blooms were white and rather uninteresting to me - the blooms were "average Austin" as far as lasting, not long enough to suit me (I'm geared down to pretty slow), and it took her a very long time to get back up to par after I moved her, certainly wouldn't consider her a robust grower, but she eventually stayed a nice size, no octopus canes.
