Pure Poetry--pot vs. ground

Who would have known that a rose could look so different in a pot and in the ground. I rooted PP several years ago as a backup in case my original died. It started declining so I removed it and planted the potted one in the ground. I realized there were two plants in the pot, so I kept the second one in a pot as another backup. This rose is a real favorite and I would not like to be without it.

Well, this is how different they are looking currently. The one in the garden has many more smaller blooms than the potted one. I can't decide which I like better.

I like the form of the potted one and since I like orange roses that is my fave, but they are both so nice.

I've had a similar experience this year, I had two Autumn Sunset roses in pots but I was able to plant one of them in the ground last fall. This year the potted rose has put out much less growth and only a fraction of the blooms, but they were larger and more deeply colored than the very numerous blooms on the one in the ground, which is growing like a monster.

I think I prefer the one thats in the ground. I like the lighter color and the more flat bloom form. Pretty rose either way though...
