Yesterday's Blooms, and the First Day of Summer

Yesterday there was finally enough roses blooming to get a few decent pictures. It hasn't rained here in almost three weeks, not even a sprinkle! Whenever the rain comes to the area, it seems to hit all the areas surrounding me, and miss my house :( So...there's not a lot blooming, plus the japanese beetles have a arrived, and I'm seeing more wasps than bees which is preventing me from getting too close to the blooms! We're suppossed to hopefully get some rain tomorrow...cross your fingers! :)

Great pics, I like the vibrant color of Cancan.

I recently added Paul Neyron to the garden, I love the blooms and fragrance.

Oooo, I love the proportion of stripings on your Climber Citrus Burst, very lovely bud for Caramel Fairytale, and Baron Prevost is lookin' great!

Lol, Tammy, I have a few rare sightings of JBs (knock on wood). I will actually pull them off of the petals or sandwich pluck them out between a kleenex tissue and sadistically squeeeeeeze and kill 'em! I don't use soapy water because the residue sticks to my bucket and I don't want to risk accidentally watering my roses with a soap-residued bucket in all likelihood, hehe! Plus continually dumping bucket after bucket of soapy water just for a few JBs is a bit hard on the city water supply (I am reluctant to dump into the gutter drain).

Love Sunshine Daydream and Paul Neyron--the others are lovely also.

Don't worry too much about those wasps. First of all, they are not aggressive and have no real interest in stinging you. Secondly, they are probably there so they can sting the JBs. I'm no wasps expert, but one or more varieties of them are JB Killers! So celebrate when you see them!
