My roses and some companion plants

Here are a few of the companion plants I have squeezed into my small garden and some of the roses nearby them.
Please note that the hundreds of daylilies are barely beginning to bloom and you only see the foliage.

Disneyland with poppy and frogs!

Heart of Gold with Peruvian lilies

Honey Bouquet with other Peruvian lilies

Hot Romance near newly planted blue penstemon

Priscilla Burton with clematis

St Pat and Route 66--my favorite rose companions

Tequila Sunrise and self-seeded lobelia

Wallflower goes with so many roses, blooms almost all the time here (greatly magnified in photo)

Veronica, blue spikes all season

and lastly,

Clematis, Gillian Blades, who lives nearby climbing America--see ladybug larva? It it weren't raining so hard, I would try to get a together photo. This clematis wasn't trained well by me this year and is growing in a low clump.

Priscilla Burton's dark green foliage with the light green of the clematis is really pretty. I love the color of that penstemon- it's almost like a neon light. It should really be a sight when all of your daylilies bloom too!

Great photos! I particularly like the veronica and blue penstamon, I think their cousins will be finding a new home in my garden pretty soon. I've wondered for a long time what a ladybug larva looked like, thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to add that the veronica in the photo is a perennial for me and looks much better than the new ones I planted this spring. As usual, perennials look better after the first year.

Kathy, your color sense is extraordinary! I love the way you combine the unusual shades. I have seen photos of your garden and you have a very artistic eye. Do you paint as well? This has been a pleasure!

Kathy...How fun to see your companion plants! We love seeing roses but I for one like to add other plants to my gardens. Seeing your pictures give me good ideas and much pleasure. Your gardens are so beautiful and I know you have worked very hard to make it so glorious! Thanks for sharing. Lesley
