How about a follow-up from over a year later. This Earthsong rose is still performing like a champ and with no spray whatsoever. Here is a full bush shot of my Earthsong:
Mine is about 4' high and 3' wide. It's still a young bush of only 3 years though, so it may get taller. I prune it back some in the spring and also if they stems get too long and floppy. On my specimen, the limbs are not very thick and strong, so they tend to sag with the weight of leaves and blooms. It's certainly no monster like Mrs. B. R. Cant is.
Forgot to ask: Do the blooms hold there color well or fade to white? How long do blooms last on the bush? Thanks, I may be interested in trying Earth Song.
If you look at the picture of the whole plant you'll see all different ages of blooms. This plant holds its color very well. The blooms never fade to white for me. They don't last particularly long on the plant. Maybe a couple of days once completely open.
I have two 'Earth Song' that have been blooming in the same spot for 20 years. One is so dense with basals that I may actually try to divide it like a perennial. They are both virused but still are blooming fools. Constant, non-stop blooming, and the first Spring flush is a traffic-stopper. Interestingly, the plant is crown-hardy in zone 5, but after a bad winter I may have to prune back to about 6 inches from the ground. No matter, it grows like gangbusters and is at 5' by end of summer. Highly recommended for easy care.
