Ah, another hydrangea-lover! Yours are beautiful. Some of mine suffered a bit from the brutal winter we had this year, but others--especially Annabelle and the paniculatas--have been blooming like crazy!

Thanks for sharing your beauties.

Kate

Oh wow!!! Boxo - you can sure grow hydrangeas!!! That one picture has a plant with many colors on it. Is that ONE plant or many? I.e. can a hydrangea plant have more than one color of bloom on it?

Thanks all :-)

Carol, yes but it depends on the picture ;-)

My 'Glowing Embers' can range from bright pink to deep mauve and almost steel blue on the same shrub. It's a mops and most of them generally just have shade changes on the same bush. The 3rd to the last pic is GE and a couple of blooms from the adjacent 'Nikko Blue'. The picture after that is the lacecap 'Blue Wave' which is mostly blue but can also have pink blooms. That pic has the pink-ish 'Preziosa' in the foreground.

I typically don't treat the soil to effect color so since they are quite mature and sizable, I think the roots just naturally draw in varying amounts of acid/alkaline nutrients and along with the amount of sun they get they just change colors.
