RE: Random pics

Hey,
I also planted a few Carefree Sunshine. I don't think I will keep it because the blooms dopn't last, maybe it will be better in your zone.

ARoy, Carefree Sunshine should be a fast rebloomer when more mature...

In our recent weather upper 70's... 1st bloom on Carefree Sunshine lasted about 3.5 days...

RE: Random pics

We have a lot of bumble and honey bees this year... :)

We feed the hummingbirds every year. There's 5 different hummingbirds that feed. They like to fight so
I put 2 other feeders in other locations...

paul_zone5ct,

The Sunrise at Heirlooms are badly blackspotting here so I will probably remove them next year as I do not spray.

Just wanted to let ya know....

RE: Random pics

I love your Mr. Lincoln picture. :)
And I love, love your bee shots. They are such miraculous little critters.
Love the hummingbird! I put up feeders for the first time, since a friend was over and saw one.

RE: Random pics

Oooh!! I love Precious Platinum - that's too bad you had to get rid of it. But I understand. I got rid of Blue Girl and Royal Amethyst - blackspot queens.
You just gotta do it - then you feel the relief.

Precious Platinum did good for 3 years then after
that started losing all his leaves to Black-spot...

Our Mister Lincoln did great for a couple years BUT is now doing the same thing as Precious Platinum.

Sunrise at Heirlooms now dropping all leaves after doing good for a couple years..

So they gotta go too... I feel like the Grim Reaper of roses...lol

RE: Random pics

LOL, Jim. I doubt that you're the grim reaper of roses. You know how to grow pretty roses, and you do quite well at it!! I think that you are a really fun guy. Precious in todays often troubled world. Love your kitties. Hugs to them, you, and your wife, hon!!! :-)

This is a very young band from Heirloom Roses.
I planted this Carefree Sunshine about mid July.
I've had a decent amount of blooms off it already.
Seems some blooms are white/yellowish when they first open...
I
I suppose next year when plant matures the blooms should be more semi-double...

Carefree Sunshine: The leaves seem sensitive to certain sprays...BUT the blooms are looking better and better as the bushes age...

 photo CIMG5213_zps216934a4.jpg

The blooms do fade on this rose even in cooler temps...
But the bloom remains looking good right to the end...
Pic I took of same bloom 3 days later...

RE: Random pics

How did I miss that gorgeous Mr. Lincoln. My favorite red rose. Swoon.

Cagney and Lacy are focused on very important cat business. My kind of cats.

Too bad about the 'easy' roses. 'Livin Easy' was the healthiest of my mom's neglected roses. A gorgeous shade of tangerine here.
