Roses in the Heat

I actually took these pictures last year in June. The temp suddenly shot up to 108, with the humidity only being around 20% (really unusual for our area). I took pictures around 11am, and then again around 4pm to see the effects of the dry heat. I don't have before pictures of every rose for some reason, sorry about that.

Yes, it is sad to see how much damage 100 degree temps can cause--just shrivel up those poor blooms! We need to set up umbrellas for all our blooming "ladies," don't you think?

Today's temps are 100--and will be until at least next Wednesday. Haven't checked yet to see how much damage there is. Actually, when it is this hot, some of my roses go semi-dormant from the heat--so at least I don't have to look at scorched blooms in those cases.

Let's all concentrate on how beautifully they will al rebound when cooler autumn temps arrive. : )

The majority of mine are dormant right now also. The pictures above are from June of last year, so they were all blooming normally when the heat suddenly hit. I just thought it was neat, especially the ones that look like they were hit by a blow torch.

Brittie - That's a good way to show what the heat can do. At this point, I'm looking forward to the fall blooms too.

The blow-torch effect!
Where I grew up in Phoenix the roses do go into semi-dormancy beginning around June. But the long season otherwise makes for some robust rose bushes and some gorgeous displays!
Tipsy Imperial Concubine is stunning! (at least in the before photo.)

I head out in the morning and cut whatever blooms look good because it drives me bonkers when the heat gets them. Those sure were gorgeous before. Everything has slowed down here too but lots of buds are forming!!! Been a horribly hot week!! Soooooo ready for cooler weather.

Wow!!! I didn't realize the heat would be that bad for the roses. We NEVER get that here. LOL
That would be VERY frustrating.
I love all of your varieties - but I think Tipsy may be my favorite. Mmmmmmm
