Great roses Laura! Like the shot of the Monarch on the rose!

Thanks, though I do have one confession: she was actually resting on the grill of the Jeep. I feared for her safety so I relocated her to the flowers, and when she didn't move I snapped up that photo op!

Love your photos, Laura! :) Thought you might want to know that your butterfly picture is one of a VICEROY butterfly--not one of a MONARCH. The way to tell them apart is that the VICEROY has a curved black line on both of its hind wings, but the MONARCH does not. Mistaking the difference between the two is a common mistake many folks make. Just a little nerdy fact from this nerd. ;)Thanks for sharing and have a great Friday, too!!

Thanks, everyone! Certainly never knew about the Viceroy butterfly. I'm going to share that tidbit at work; we all assumed they were Monarchs.

Iris gal--yes, Electron is spot-on. I love taking pics of that one. They all turn out beautiful. She seems to blow fast, but stays beautiful all the way through. Renegade, on the other hand, came out pink in every photo until that one. It's actually very cherry-red and tightly closed for a couple of days until it opens to that stage, where you can finally see the white deeper down inside.

I especially like your WWII Memorial. Gotta get that one.

Paul, the really cool thing about that particular rose is the contrast of the bloom and foliage. The leaves are such a dark green that it's like night and day. The blooms I have on it right now (not the ones pictured above) are at least 5" across, and it's very, very fragrant.
