Mini-time....First and Foremost

Thanks to some very helpful advice, I was finally able to capture the truly weird, weird color of this mini. The first picture is how NOT to photograph it. Warning---sunglasses may be necessary. Do not adjust your set.

After lagomorphmom & Masha made a couple of suggestions, here's the difference:

I took these in the evening, and it really is that weird color. It's not quite deep pink, not really red, and not orangy, either. It looks radioactive. It is oddly haunting looking after a storm, and an absolute beacon in the sunlight.

Thanks for posting these photos. I have had the same trouble photographing Marmalade Skies- it blurs out. I will try taking photos in the evening with a tripod and see if they turn out better.

Pretty rose. Yeah, it's really best to take the pics in the early morning or early evening. When the sun is low, and there's some light shade on them the color comes out quite a lot more true and more vivid. I don't like full sun shots. To me the colors are washed out. Altho Kathy in Sac does a great job with full sun shots. I guess it also depends on what kind of camera you have too. Some do better in sun and some don't. Plus getting the exposures right helps too. I don't really like messing with that too much tho. Sometimes it's just hit-and-miss too. And the reds are THE hardest to get right.

Good looking blooms and thanks for the photography suggestions. I took a photo of Miss All American Beauty this summer that I decided not to post because it was a garish, screaming pink. I wondered what I had done wrong!

The red roses are the classical and most beautiful ones, compared with other roses. What do you think?
