First Frost Survivors!

I took a walk around the yard after work today to see what rose blooms survived last night's first frost...and surprisingly, there was less frost damage than I imagined. The only area that seemed to suffer was the area surrounding my deck which gets little sun.

Here are some pics taken this afternoon while still only about 45 degrees..brrr! Although not the best blooms of the season, I'll still take 'em! One trend I noticed in my pictures is my fellow Tennessean Whit Well's roses seem to be taking off all of a sudden!(Angelica Renae, Grand 'Ol Opery, and Red Headed Stranger) They must appreciate the TN clay! lol

~Tammy

Miniature: Angelica Renae: one of three roses by my mailbox.

Champney's Pink Cluster: small, but coming along. I just hope it survives a Tennessee winter!
Photobucket

Easy Does It: always such a great performer in a less than ideal location!
Photobucket

Grand 'Ol Opery: its first bloom of the season :(
Photobucket

Heritage: The blooms are slowly getting fuller on this first year plant!

HT, Red Headed Stranger

St. Elisabeth of Hungary: I rec'd this rose from Vintage as a promotion for ordering 6(?) roses, and they would give you 2 free of their choice...I am so glad they chose this rose! It is beautiful, healthy, and vigorous! Love it, love it, love it!

Tom Brown: Looks like Tom may have suffered a little, but he's still blooming...

Nice to see these roses hanging on. I hate to contemplate another winter coming on . . . .
Thanks for posting these roses that are new to me.

Easy does it is my fave, have never seen the red headed stranger. Love them all.
Although it's very cool here too, no frost yet, the roses are hanging in, but have "bare legs" :>)

They're tougher than we give them credit for aren't they, Tammy? That Red Headed Stranger is new to me as well and I love it. Also go for those ruffled petals on Tom Brown!

Tom Brown looks so pretty and an unusual color. It almost looks tan on top with a pink reverse. St Elisabeth is quite pretty itself. All quite lovely. Judy

I fall in love with your St. E. of Hungary again, so gorgeous, and its pink color is uplifting. Easy Does It is perfect. I wonder if St. E. of Hungary or Easy Does It have a pleasant scent. Many thanks.

Strawberry: Easy Does It doesn't have too much fragrence, but St Elisabeth's is a strong old rose...to me any way :)

...and some second frost survivors!! They just keep going and going :)

Blumenschmidt with a green eye! I know it's considered a flaw, but for some reason I just love when my roses produce them!

Hey Good Lookin'...another Whit Wells rose enjoying the cool weather!

The Dark Lady is one of my "bloom machines!"

Koko Loco is becoming more tan and less lavender in this cool weather, but it's weak neck issue seems to be getting worse

Summer Night miniflora...yet another Whit Wells!

Enjoy :)

Summer Night miniflora color is outstanding. I like bi-color until I saw Double Delight's color all messed up in cool weather. Your Summer Night stays exceptionally good-looking. Thank you for informing me about St. E. of Hungary's fragrance.
