Huge Montezuma Rose

I usually list photos in the orchid gallery but just could not resist showing this one. I cut it yesterday because of rain. I think it's size is what makes it so outstanding to me but I also like it's beautiful color. It is the size of a salad plate, 7" in diameter. It has a nice sweet smell.

Seven inches!!!! The bush probably doesn't throw too many roses, because so much energy goes into each bloom?????

The bush was planted in the spring and it has two more buds, one to a stem. I was wondering if I should have let such a big rose develop. The other two buds won't make it because it is supposed to be 27 degrees tonight and 24 the next.

Don't know how cold sensitive your rose will turn out to be, but usually I just let nature decide whether or not the buds will survive.

On the other hand, if the buds are far enough along (have color and nearly ready to open), I might cut one or both and bring inside for a last lovely bouquet.
