Early Fall roses

Posted by kathy9norcal CA 9 (My Page) on

I really got off track with my photos this year. I am trying to crop and sort them, now that I have a bit more time. Here are a few from August 29th:

Jean Gioni, always handsome

Hot Cocoa, rarely my camera can pick up the purple

two Playboys, a fleeting beauty

Joshua Bradley

Eureka, the bloomingest rose

Outrageous, still potted

Black Cherry standard

Lastly, can you please help me ID this plant. I took it from my daughter when she got married in June and left San Diego to live in Hawaii. I need the name and the temperature requirements. In other words, can it be on the porch and survive a few frosts per winter--or must it come inside.
Thanks so much for getting this far and looking at my photos.
Kathy

Your roses are quite nice. You caught the Playboy at the right time.

Your unknown plant might be a variety of Plectranthus. If that is what it is, it needs to be inside during the winter because it will not tolerate the cold. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like one.

Kathy it is a plectranthus. I just plonked mine into the ground about 2 hours ago. The thing flowers every November and looks good the rest of the year. Don't know if it needs to be brought in for your area, not here.
Nice to see you posting again!

Is that Outrageous or Disneyland? Gorgeous.

Thanks for the help with the purple flowering plant. I will do some research on it. I am betting it is frost sensitive as it got pretty ragged looking in San Diego in winter.
Iris, I am pretty sure it is Outrageous although I first id'ed it as Disneyland. I don't have any garlic chives near Disneyland, but they grow right behind Outrageous.
