I wouldn't be showing this, but it was taken by my 15 year old granddaughter earlier in the season. Like any Nana, I'm proud. It is a picture of one of my Royal William blooms.

Ooooh!!! Good for her!!
Takes better pictures than I do! Red looks great - love the darker edging.
Fantastic!

Great picture! I grow this rose and I don`t hear much about it on this forum. It really is a lovely red bloom. This picture is spot on. Lesley

Thank you for the n.ice comments, she loves photography and horses mostly She's a great young lady and I want to be encouraging to her in any way I can. Lesley, Royal William is one of those roses you don't hear much about, I've had mine for several years and like it a lot. It never has an over abundance of blooms, but it has been very dependable and the red coloring is so lovely, it always has that velvety look I love. I'm surprised it's not more widely grown.

Thank you for posting this lovely rose. Looks like it rivals Mr. Lincoln, my fav red HT. Kordes strikes again!

RE: Proud Nana

Thank you iris_gal. You peaked my curiosity about Royal William being a Kordes rose, I knew that, I just don't always consider the hybridizers. I looked up Reimer Kordes on HMF and every rose of his I have grown has been a really good one,. Royal William, Kardinal, Folklore, Helmut Schmidt and Sunsprite and I saw several I've wanted to try, maybe I should

Beautiful shot of a stunning rose. And here I thought Royal William was hybridized by an English company. I can understand your pride in your granddaughter's photographic abilities. I don't even own a camera, and my 15 year old g-daughter has been my "chief" photographer for two years now. She even put together a little album with comments for my recent birthday. Grandkids are the best! Diane

Diane - Thank you. What a sweet granddaughter, to put together an album for your birthday, so thoughtful and she takes lovely pictures too. I would totally agree, yes grandkids are the best!
