Beth, your roses are just so beautiful! No roses to share this year, maybe next, I've posted what I had. Have a question though. I have Just Joey on my list for spring because I like this color. I really like your About Face. Which do you like better for blooming and bush form, and I should also ask is About Face a tall rose in your garden? Thanks both for sharing your roses and if you should answer my question. Leslie

As usual your selection is amazing! I really like the form on Flora Danica. Ann Henderson reminds me of Singing in the Rain!!!

Thanks Veilchen! Gary, that ALMOST SUNSET is one of my J&P test roses from around 1994 or so. It never got marketed in the US, but it's sold in Australia and New Zealand. I'm so glad I have it. It's a really great rose. Leslie, unfortunately both of those roses, JUST JOEY and ABOUT FACE are really small (grafted tho) whimpy plants. I nearly lost JJ a couple yrs ago to sunburn dieback. But it came back little by little. AF is just a slow grower, but it's only 2yrs old, so maybe by next season it'll perk up. So far, they're both only about 18" tall!! Cloudia, FLORA DANICA is one of my favorite oranges. It blooms a LOT! And the blooms are so interesting. ANN HENDERSON is a new one this yr for me, and I really like her!!! She's a bit more "rusty" than SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, but you are right, she's kinda similar isn't she?

Beth, new question, I don't know where you are in zone 9, I'm in Visalia, about 40 min south of Fresno. We hit 117 last July. Which of your orange/apricots hold up the best in the heat and direct sun and are 5' and under? I appreciate your info. When I posted my Hybrid Tea questions Just Joey came up a bunch of times and I didn't realize this might not be a good rose with the sun and heat I have here. It will not have any shade in the spot I'm going to be planting it in, none of the roses will. Thanks for answering my previous question I appreciate your knowledge, I don't have any at all in regards to larger roses. Leslie

| Maryl, ASHRAM was new for me this yr. I did actually get one last yr, but it died and I had to reorder it. This time it did great. It's still small of course. And still in a 5 gal pot. FLORA DANICA is a rose I've had for quite some time. It's a really good bloomer, and repeats well. The bush stays about 3 1/2ft tall by about 3ft wide. Leslie, FLORA DANICA is a good one for the heat. Does really well. REMEMBER ME is a good one too. That poor baby is still in a 5 gal pot after about 6-7 yrs. It's gonna go nuts when I get it in the ground (hopefully this spring). Another really good one is one of my favorite striped roses, MARVELLE, better known as TROPICAL SUNSET. It blooms all the time, and just gorgeous blooms. MARVELLE (aka: TROPICAL SUNSET)

Thank you Beth, I'll look into those roses, those are a very nice shade also and beautiful roses. I appreciate that, you might have saved me both some money and time from trying to grow a rose that sooner or later wouldn't make it in my heat/sun. Niecey - you have some beautiful roses growing also, very pretty oranges and apricots. I have Samaritan on my list to get in spring, someone posted a photo of it in Sept and I've wanted one ever since! It could even have been you:) Thanks to both of you for sharing your photos, I always enjoy them, Leslie

Niecey, love your pictures as always!! Wowee!! Where did you get PURE BLISS? I've never seen it available here in the US! Wish I could get my DAYBREAKER to look that good. Maybe next season. And I just discovered your SUMMER SUNSET is the same as FRANCE LIBRE, which I just got from Ashdown's this summer. Can't wait til mine looks like yours! Thanks for showing these. They're all beautiful! Leslie, unfortunately, it takes about 3 yrs to really evaluate roses. It takes some of them that long to show their true nature. Occasionally there will be some that just do their thing right off the bat. But that's actually a rarity. Also, some roses that survuve well in one area's heat, might not do so well somewhere else, even tho the temps might be the same. Soil condition, fertilizers, watering and other things factor in to whether a rose will perform well or not. Unfortunately, it's often a game of hit & miss. You almost have to experiment and see what does best for you.
