Ladies and Gentlemen, We Have Seedlings!

Hi, All.

I am proud to announce the birth of my first rose seedlings. The seeds spent 2 months or more in the fridge in a wet paper towel inside a baggie, and they were planted in a flat tray just 10 days ago. These three little guys were quick!

Two of these came from a hip I pocketed from an unknown yellow rose in September:

and the third one is from Jeanne LaJoie:

There are a couple hundred more seeds in this flat, all planted in rows arranged by seed parent. I can't wait to see what else sprouts and what comes of them as they develop. This is so exciting!

Hi Connie, That is so exciting. I might have to try that. How long does it take that one little seedling to turn into a bushy plant? Do you put several seedlings together to make a bushier plant quicker or am I just thinking crazy ideas? As you can tell I have never tried to grow seedlings. Can you give me a quick lesson on how you do it? Thanks, Judy

Well, aren't you the smart one.I just ain't going to try that as I am too impatient to see a bloom.I figure it will take about 2 yrs from a seed to a nice blooming bush, but maybe not,I don't have a clue on it.Good luck with your little seedlings.
