Hi Krista: I love all your pics. - they are so natural, like seeing in real life. I have Evelyn on my list for next year - I can't decide on Sharifa Asma. Its reported rugosa leaves scare me, since all the rugosa roses here look like non-blooming porcupines on alkaline clay soil. I can make the soil more acidic with peat moss and alfalfa meal if Sharifa Asma reblooms better than Louis Odier.

Krista, how many flushes a year does Louis Odier give you? If he gives 2 flushes a year, that's good enough for me - that's better than peonies. Thank you in advance.

Thank you, Seil and Strawberryhill.

I do enjoy seeing what the roses look like naturally, with all their imperfections...

Strawberryhill, I get two flushes from Louise Odier. The second flush is not as abundant as the first flush, however. The rose also has some scattered blooms on it late in the season. The fragrance is wonderful.

Sharifa will get blackspot and drop some of its leaves in late summer, as does Louise Odier. Sharifa repeats nicely, though, a bit more blooming late in the season than Louise Odier.

Sharifa does have crinkled leaves, but they are not the same as a rugosa rose, IMHO... however I'm not sure how this rose would do in alkaline soil, as I think the soil here is neutral or slightly acidic...

Your Bishop's Castle and Evelyn are particularly lovely, Krista. I have BC and really love the fragrance.
