It's been very cold here in Pasadena. The nights have been in the low to mid 40's and the days only in the 60's. I've been curious to see how the roses respond and the answer seems to be that they like it. They have that preserved look - sort of like florist roses. Here are a few starting with Rio Samba.

They look very happy. Good, crisp colors. Those kind of temps are why I enjoy spring and fall so much in my neck of the woods.

Love the big blowsy look of 'Valencia'. Looked up 'Sunstruck'. It is gorgeous. I put towels over my sub-tropicals tonight. Supposed to get down to 31 F. Brrr.

Love them all, but Sunstruck with it's dark edges. most of all.

This is the first time I've ever had Sunstruck and it is quite unique. The blooms are spectacular with peach edged pink with yellow to white at the base. They last forever ( a month) fading to yellowish pinkish white and then white. The petals eventually brown but they never come off. I wish it bloomed more and was more spreading rather than tall but I know it will become a monster in the years ahead.

I especially love your Midas Touch and Valencia. Valencia to me is just heavenly. Always takes my breath away. Lovely pictures and thank you! Carol |
