How hard to prune mini climber?

How much do you cut back your minis, especially the climbers? I just started with minis last spring so this is my first winter pruning. My two climbers are Work of Art and Jeanne Lajoie. Both of these grew a lot in their first year, but neither flowered much. Work of Art only had five flowers the whole season, and Jeanne Lajoie didn't have many more. I wonder if it's because they used all their strength growing? So, should I cut them back much? WoA is over 6 feet.

Dont cut them back at all, and not for another 2-3 years. Climbers either tend to bloom a lot at 1st or put their energy into growing the first season. You wont want to prune now, you'll discourage blooming. Give it a few more years to take off & it will reward you. Then you could prune lightly but nothing major. Seems like those climbers like your yard!

Thanks for the advice. I'll just clean up the leaves, etc., then, and keep my fingers crossed for this summer as far as blossoms.
