Miniature Roses

miniature rose w/droopy leaves

I received a minature rose for valentine's day. it came mail order from what they say is a reuptable vendor. It showed up in great shape. 5 blooms, soft green leaves everything perky and happy.

the leaves started to droop so I watered it. Not what I would call thorough but it perked up. Again yesterday I watered it a little after seeing droopy leaves.

still droopy today! and i took out of the pot...the soil is barely damp on top. the bottom is moist and dark like it is watered well but the soil above it is lighter like it is dry.

I am afraid to water and afraid not to water it.

any suggestions? I could email a picture if that would help

Hi

Usually the gift roese like you received are not potted in the best of soil and they are usually it a pot that is way to small for them. Roses need sunlight and that means grown outside. Your rose was most likely grown in a greenhouse and pushed to bloom out of season. Look at the post "How to save a Potted Gift Rose and you should be able to save the rose.
