I just got a mini rose plant from Lowes. It is really pretty. I re-potted it in the only pot I could find there that I liked. Only thing is (I realized after I bought it) is it has no drain holes in the bottom. Will this be a problem? I Don't know if they need good drainage or if it will be ok as long as I don't totally drown it.
Yes it needs drainage, no it doesn't want to be in a saucer sitting in standing water, and it really wants to be planted outside. See thelink below for more information.
hmm well thanks for the reply, but that link doesn't really answer my question, I just want to know what type of pot they'd like best. i can not plant it outside really, I want it as a house plant. I will have to buy a different pot with drain holes I suppose.
The issue with keeping it as a "house plant" is that they need A LOT of light(not yeling at you just making a point) and some humidity to keep away the spider mites.
Roses are not easy indoor plants. I have 18 of them in my sunroom. They can live indoors, but you will most likely battle pest problems constantly. Especially if the indoor humidity, temperature, and light conditions are not perfect. I have my environment nearly perfect for roses, and still have problems. They require constant work. They are just not meant to be casual houseplants.
