choosing mini(s) for Denver area

I have a very limited space for minis, but I love them. Has anyone ever grown Minnie Pearl, Pacesetter, Child's Play, or Jean Kenneally? They are all so beautiful; it's hard to choose. I really have room for only one or two, unless I dig up one or two of the supermarket minis I nursed through the winter before last. One, a white one, wasn't too great last summer. Any other recommendations?
Thanks,

| Thanks so much, cnetter, for the pictures. They are beautiful; I want them all. If you can grow them in zone 4, I should be able to grow them in my fairly sheltered, but small, yard in Aurora. Wish I had more room. How far apart did you plant yours? Thanks, Marlene |

| I "think" about 18 inches apart - or less when I was tight for space. Jean Kenneally and Pacesetter are quite upright - taller than they are wide. Minnie Pear spreads a bit more, and is about as tall as she is wide. I can't picture Childs Play's growth habit at the moment. I'm thinking that I might not be zone 4 anymore - the winters are warmer than they were 20 years ago. But I'm definitely colder than the middle of Denver. And the rose garden is most definitely not sheltered. |
