Don't leave them in the four inch pots. Immediately replant to a six or eight inch pot (or a leftover one gallon pot from some other nursery purchase) or dump it in the ground in a nice sunny location. This will help keep it from drying out too quickly because it won't be as rootbound and there will be more soil to keep moist.

Don't forget, too, that mini is the size of the blooms, not the size of the mature plant. That little 4" potted beauty could end up 1' tall or all the way up to 4' and in a few instances even taller (mostly climbers for taller). I have a dozen or so wonderful grocery store minis. Average height seems to be about 2.5' tall in my climate (hot, dry, 11 month growing season pretty much). Some are shorter and some are bigger and about 2' around.

If you buy ones with names, it will be easier to determine the final height/width in your zone by looking on HelpMeFind.com or asking here than buying the minis often sold in grocery stores and the like.

I know it does not get as hot in Canada as it does in Houston, but Texas summer heat requires 6 inch containers to be watered every morning. I try to put all my new minis in at least an 8 inch container.
