Miniature Roses

HowTos on Roses?

Hello All,

I live in New England and new to gardening. I am planning to plant some rose bushes and miniature roses this year. I need some guidance on what varieties to choose and when should I start for this year. I am looking for disease resistance varieties with lot of fragrance. Are bare roots good to start with? I would like to see my flowers this summer and can't wait for rose varieties which may take year or 2 to establish. Are there any good online stores which ship the rose plants. Please, send in your inputs on these issues.

Now is the best time for you to start. Bare root roses take the longest time to establish. Roses in large pots establish faster. Local nurseries will be your best source for these. They offer less variety but faster results.

Mail order companies ship younger plants to save on shipping costs. On the good side, mail order gets you the unique plants.
