leave one on each mini and cut the rest off. It encourages the wee ones to focus on growing more roots and more canes and I do this faithfully with every single plant.

I think you might get several different responses to this question. I never cut the bud off of my new roses and have never had a problem with them. I keep them in one gallon pots until they have a good root system and then either bump them up into a larger pot or put them in the ground in the fall.
