Miniature roses in a narrow strip???

I have a small strip of 5-6" between my house and very narrow driveway.

I have my first red tulips blooming in this sunny area, and I LOVE the impact. In the past I had always used only low groundcovers here.

The tulips are maybe 16 - 18" height. Anything taller would probably not work since it would likely fan out and brush up against our vehicle, and of course we don't want to scratch the paint with thorns.

When the tulips are spent, I'd like to replace them with a high impact red flower. Would a row of minature roses work in this area?

I'm not too familiar with mini roses, so not sure how "mini" they are. I'd like a flower with high impact, so tiny blooms would not work here, but essentially it's the show of bold color I'm looking for.

Long bloom time is essential for what I'm trying to achieve, hardy without winter protection for zone 5. I also prefer heirloom style roses.

Will this work, and if so, suggestions for mini roses?
