How is your Valentine's Day Climbing Mini?

| Hi,
I got one as a gift for Valentine's Day, a nice healthy looking plant from Nor'East, and for some reason it seems to be terminally sunburned. I moved plants outdoors to the coldframe carefully, to prevent scorching, but this guy just seems to be prone. Today I gave up and planted him out in the landscape in a semi-protected spot. He will have a half day of sunshine, until he gets taller. He really hasn't grown much since I got him, but he had filled up his larger pot with roots. Maybe he just needs to grow down before he grows up? I dunno. Maybe he's just a bugger.
I would love to know how much luck anyone else is having with this rose. If the news is bad, I may just go out there and murder him right now.
Cheers,
Michelle |

| I just planted one myself. Bought it from Nor' East. Although I have no info to offer at this time, I will be more than willing to keep you informed as to the progress. I too thought it would make a very pretty climber. If you can provide some more info such as if you fertilized it and what type you used, I can see waht else can be done. When I plant new mini-roses the only thing I feed them at the time is about a cup or two of composted manure for about the first month. And water them really well. If you want to email me directly you can write me at worldwidewebb@cox.net |

| Hi, I didn't fertilize it or anything when I potted it up. I don't usually give them anything until they start actively growing... The potting mix didn't have any feed in it, either. I wrote to Nor'East, and they didn't know what it would be but suggested flushing out the pot really well. It's too late for that, but I will keep it watered and see what happens. I gave it a shovel of composted goat manure and will be starting the alfalfa tea thing this week... Maybe that will perk it up. Anyway, please let me know how your VD Cl. does. I think this one could take off, it's just odd how long it's taking. Leading Lady, purchased at the same time, is leaping. Cheers, Michelle |
