Miniature Roses

miniature rose being crowded

A couple of small Zinnia volunteers are crowding my peach miniature rose. Do I need to try and transplant them elsewhere. The peach rose is the only one that isn't blooming of my roses. And if so any advice on how to do it without killing them? For some reason when I dig up anything in the garden to move it, it dies.

I talked to our rose guy in the area and he said roses don't like to be crowded so I moved the zinnia. Now I just hope that the roses and the zinnia survive.

You did the right thing. I don't know how high either the rose or the zinnias were but if the zinnias were taller than the rose they could have been depriving it of the sun it needed to bloom, as well as water and nutrients.

I've seen some real nice rose gardens where the plants were crowded together. Some of my beds are crowded and those are my best roses,go figure!
