Three Out of Six

My husband brought home a potted Miniature Rose plant. There were six plants total. I re-potted them , three each, in two 10" clay pots with fresh store bought Super Soil Potting Mix and about 40% Peat Moss. I put them under the kitchen sky light since every day has been 100* + F in the afternoons. Here it is two days later and one group look nice and perky and the other has everything drooping. I melted ice cubes on top of the soil and they started to come back. They drooped again and since the moisture meter said "enough", I used the meter to put holes all around almost through to the bottom. Now I have them by a southern exposure window for the light. No direct sunlight. The other is still happily sitting under the sky light on the kitchen counter. Does anyone know why there would be such an opposite result when everything was re-potted, watered, etc, equally?
