White 'fuzz' on soil

Posted by hank_in_pa (My Page) on

I noticed white "fuzzy" stuff on the surface of the soil in my potted minis. Looks like some sort of mold or mildew very cottony or whispy appearance - it has been VERY humid here lately. I plan to let the soil dry out a little more between waterings. Is this a serious issue and what steps should I take? THX!

RE: White 'fuzz' on soil

It is mold... usually from too much humidity and the soil being too wet

It can spread to the plant if the conditions persist. I usually take a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide or bleach and dab at the white stuff on the soil or cane until it is gone...
