holes in leaves of carpet rose

I just planted my first carpet roses a few weeks ago and just love them. All of a sudden this week I'm finding holes and a few small brownish spots on the leaves. I haven't seen any insect, but I'm sure they're around somewhere. What should I do about them? I'm so tickled to have these beautiful plants and want them to last.

Hi

It is some type of insect. I do not use insectisides unless you know what you are dealing with. And if you do want to spray, try a good orgainic type. Just remember, even with an orgainic spray you can still kill the good bugs (bees).

I use to spray for insects but I have found that I rather have ladybugs and bees in my yard, even if it means having some chewes leaves and buds.

are the brownish spots a light brown coulor? You might want to check under the leaves for rose slugs. I had a bunch living on my roses and I think I got the little devils. They look like little caterpillars and they will leave light spots on the leaves and eat holes in them.
